A Tale of Two Predators

Posted by admin on Friday, June 25th, 2010

I painted up two Predator tanks.  The first one I built was a basic cannon with the bolter guns. The second, I decided to go all out with the twin linked Lascannons and the side Lascannons.  They turned out pretty good in my opinion.  I took my time on both of these instead of my [...]

New AT-43 Comic

Posted by admin on Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I haven’t made one in months.  I seem to have lost my Muse for drawing all together lately.  I hope I can find my spark again and get back to it.  Come to think of it, I think I owe Privateer Press some more comics as well.  I should get on that! www.at43comic.com

Sabol Army Transport

Posted by admin on Thursday, April 29th, 2010

I picked up a couple of Sabol basic troop bags.  I am VERY impressed with the quality of this product. The price for this bag was around 60 bucks and came loaded with foam.  This foam is a very ridged high quality pluck and pull foam.  You can hold a tray in one hand and [...]

Building a Force

Posted by admin on Friday, January 8th, 2010

I have begun putting together my Space Marines from the list I came up with.  It’s an interesting process.  I am enjoying the customization of the models to match what I came up with on my list.  But it does lead to an interesting question.  In the Mega Force box there are 20 Tactical Marines.  I have so far built 2 and used 6 of their back packs for my jumpless Assault Squad.  Should I just put the rest together in standard bolters and missile launchers and flamers?  Or, do I make another list and build them according to that list?  I have a unit of Terminators now from the Black Reach box that I won’t be fielding according to my SM list, because they don’t have the right weapons.  I don’t see the reason behind building and painting figures I’m not going to use.  On the other hand, it just really fun to put these things together…

I discovered when going through the sprues in the box that there is a power fist on the Assault Squad sprue.  I was able to take this and build my Tactical Squad Sergeant.  Now, I just need a MultiMelta to finish my Squad!  I’m pleased with how my force is coming along so far.  I have decided to start paining it all before I finish collecting and building all the figures in a unit.  Mostly because I really enjoy the painting process.

Here are my scouts so far.  Like I’ve said a few times, I’m not going for any kind of award in my paint jobs.  I am going break neck speed to get all these figures painted and on the table so assembly line painting is how it’s going to go.  I am actually pleased with how they are turning out.  They look better in real life then they do in the pictures.  Mostly because they are so small!

Here is my Melta gunner from my Tactical Squad.

And here is the Sergent of the Tac Squad.  I actually painted this figure on it’s own.  Total paint time on just him was about an hour.

So far what I have built in my squad 9 out of 10 Tac Squad built and painted.  4 of 10 Scouts built and painted.  6 of 9 Assault Squad built.  1 Rhino built and painted.  I have a long way to go, but it’s a fun process and I am enjoying it more then I thought I would!

Your assault marines should have come with their own standard backpacks as an alternative to jump packs, so you shouldn’t find yourself short.

If you’re looking to get heavy weapons besides a missile launcher, you’ll need to pick up a devastators box. It doesn’t quite make a good devastator squad, but it will provide heavy weapons for your entire force. Comes with a multi-melta, a missile launcher, two plasma cannons, two heavy bolters and two lascannons.

Fantastic! Thank you for this response. I shall go and pick up the Devastators box, a couple actually. It never hurts to have extra weapons around!

Hey there. I’ve just found your site, great job btw! I was just gonna ask, are you sure that your megaforce came with a razorback upgrade sprue? I’m thinking of investing in one myself and I know that the boxes used to come with a razorback, but they changed the contents relatively recently.

    Cheers

Make sure you’re getting the Mega Force, not the Battle Force. My Mega Force did come with the Razorback kit.
